Mission Statement
Koocanusa Village Community Association’s mission is to plan and promote social events and activities that help develop a sense of belonging, community spirit and goodwill; to raise funds required to support the ongoing growth and development of all purposes; to represent the Koocanusa Village Community Association members and provide a consolidated voice; and to promote, encourage, develop and oversee the operations of a local volunteer fire department.
The Association promotes and encourages the safety, security and protection of all Koocanusa Village residents and their properties from natural (e.g. fire, wildlife, water levels), local (e.g. speeders), and external influence (e.g. cattle, break-in or criminal activity), and promotes awareness of all locally imposed bylaws that contribute to the safety of all residents. It also manages common areas, facilities, and access routes within the development area that do not fall within the responsibility of the Strata Corporations and are not serviced by local or regional government.
What’s in the Bylaws
The full Bylaws are a legal document registered under the BC Societies Act. In short, they set out:
- •Definitions of key terms used throughout the Association’s governing documents.
- •How the Board of Directors is elected, its powers, and its responsibilities to members.
- •Membership rules, annual dues, and standing in good order.
- •How Annual and Special General Meetings are called and conducted.
- •Property covenants — what can and cannot be done on a member’s lot.
